The beautiful town of Boquete is
surrounded with slopes, exuberant mountains towards the
North, East and West west where you may see the Volcán
Barú which is the highest point of Panama with an
altitude of 3,475 meters (11,400 feet). From the peak of
the inactive Volcán Barú, one may see both the Atlantic
and Pacific Ocean. The Rio Caldera runs through the
middle of the town. Towards the North in the Province of
Chiriqui, Boquete is located only 7 Km (3.3 miles) from
the Province of Bocas del Toro to the North. Although
smaller when compared to David, Boquete is the most
inhabitant and developed community of the highlands,
many of them which operate business oriented to the
tourist sector. Boquete has vast variety of restaurants.
Boquete is famous for many reasons: its beauty is
stunning; the coffee plantations are considered similar
to the best of the world. Form here you may find bird
watchers, mountain climbing, fishing, golf, whiter water
rafting, horseback riding and many other activities. You
have to come to Boquete to really appreciate how special
this place is.
For all the above reasons and many more, Boquete is
rapidly converting into a famous tourist destination. As
an example, the publication corresponding to May/June
2004 of the Madurez Moderna magazine (the AARP magazine
has the most circulation among all the consumer
magazines in the world, with more than 20 million
subscribers) positioned Boquete in Panama as the fourth
best destination for retirees in the world. The
publication Vida International classified Panama even
higher as No.1 of its list. In addition, publications
such as Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal and MSN
Money are mentioning Boquete.
